Dublins' Conrad Phillips flies west

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of a man often referred to as "The father of the ramp" at Dublin/EIDW.

Conrad Phillips FBO involvement goes a long way back, back to PARC Aviation, the first FBO at Dublin, he was their first Station Manager, same with Execair when they took over, after which he spent many years with Signature Flight Support in the same role. He was never more happy at work than when out on the ramp stacking aeroplanes with the aid of a Lektro 8800 tug. He was always up for a bit of banter & would never see the competition stuck for an extra hand, airside that is, "management can sort out landside!"

Away from airports he was a well known railway enthusiasts & he travelled the globe in his pursuit of the extraordinary on rails.

Conrad was very much a family man. Married to Jeanne, he was the father of three children, one of whom, daughter Anna, followed him into aviation, currently an air traffic controller with the IAA at Dublin, & son Eric became ATPL & is currently with Aer Lingus. His passing will be greatly missed and the I extend sincere sympathy to his entire family on this sad day.
