Majority stake in Ireland's Waterford Airport reported to be sold

Two Irish-born investors, who own a huge property portfolio across Europe, have agreed to pay up to €20M to buy a majority stake in Waterford Airport.

Waterford Airport is located 4 NM southeast of historic Waterford City. It serves southeastern Ireland. The airport is operated by Waterford Regional Airport plc.

The deal will be a major coup for the region and a vote of confidence in the airport and its potential to serve the south-east. The acquisition price includes a significant investment programme at the facility, which is expected to begin almost immediately.

A Council spokesperson said: “legal agreements are being drawn up, but have not been executed.”

“Any investment proposal will be subject to Government support towards capital expenditure and subject to the approval of Waterford City and County Council and the shareholders of the company (Waterford Airport).
